Meditate like Batman

Focus and relaxation in intense situations are two of the key elements of being the Dark Knight. There are many techniques that Master Wayne uses to enhance his abilities like exercise and supplements, but one that is never mentioned(but just as important) is meditation. Meditation is extremely popular these days because more and more studies are showing that it helps in all kinds of mental fluidity. I guarantee you that by learning to meditate you will be able to make strides in many other aspects of life.
"Relaxed but ever-alert."
1. Find a quiet place. For many people this will be your room. Or perhaps a bathroom in your house. Silence is key, especially when your starting out so that you won't get distracted from your mediation and tempted to open your eyes. Due to the essential silence many experts suggest doing meditation early in the morning. Not only is your house asleep but the outside is still sleeping as well, so you'll be able to get an all around "hush".
2. Breath. Breathing gives you something to focus on when meditating. Breath in and out. Some people say that imagining a bag inflating and deflating helps them focus on their breathing, personally I try to think of nothing and focus on the way my body feels and relax as much as possible.
3. Don't think. Try not to think about ANYTHING while meditating if you do it'll defeat the whole point of the activity. Meditation is all about relaxation and focus. If your thinking your distracting your mind from total relaxation and will probably lose track of your breathing.
4. Practice 30 minutes per day. Batman wasn't given powers, sure he had money but that's not how he got his skills. As Christopher Nolan (the director of the latest Batman trilogy) said "He's just a guy who does a lot of push ups." Meditation takes practice to master, studies have actually shown that people who have practiced meditation for extended periods of time have actually shown a change in their physical brain, displaying a larger amount of gray matter in regions associated with learning and memory processes, emotion regulation, self-referential processing, and perspective taking. Meditation is quickly coming to be known as the top brain strengthening activity that an individual can do. With time you'll be just as focused as the bat.

Supplement like Batman

Batman is a human like everyone else; but to do what he does you have to make yourself into a super human(hero). One of the greatest ways to do this is to supplement. Supplements provide significant enhancements in memory, focus and athletic performance. Here are the supplements of the Dark Knight:

The Bat-pill...if you look closely you can see a
compartmentfor these in Batman's utility belt.

Caffeine plus Theanine

On those late nights when Batman is in a particularly engaging bind in Arkham or it's just been a crazy day being a billionaire playboy; Master Wayne will need an extra boost to stay awake and alert. It is no secret that Caffeine provides such cognitive benefits late into the night while also in multiple studies increasing muscle power output, but while facilitating wakefulness, caffeine can also cause jitters, dizziness and headaches; things you can't afford dealing with when going up against the most dangerous people the world has ever seen. Enter the super combination caffeine plus theanine; theanine has a reputation for countering the side effects of caffeine, promoting relaxation and on many other occasions great focus. The combination of the two make for a supplement that increases muscle output,  alertness, wakefulness while inducing relaxation and focus. This combination is so widely known and reputable that there are many companies that make it in pill form.
Overcoming a thug takes alot of strength; overcoming four at one time takes Batman levels of strength. Creatine is a supplement known for providing remarkable feats of power with some studies reporting a 54.7% increase in strength. Add that to a fantastic workout routine and you'll be able to dwart anyone(s) that challenges you. It also comes in pill form.
Batman has enormous amounts of muscle this is due to his training with the League of Assassins, the gymnastics training that he regularly undergoes and his nutrition. If you want to achieve your maximum muscle mass like Batman you must combine strength workouts with a proper amount of protein intake. The calculation for the amount of protein to gain muscle is very simple. Weigh yourself, jot that down on your white board in your man(bat) cave and be sure to ingest as many grams of protein as your pounds in weight. Soon you'll achieve Batman like gains. Protein powder can be found pretty much anywhere.
Batman can't afford to get sick; Gotham always has a new problem that needs fixing. This is a supplement that guarantees that you'll never get sick. It is known to help you conquer allergies and prevent diseases from ever rocking your body by increasing the natural killer cell content(the cells that fight off infections and viruses). On top of that awesomeness it is similar to caffeine and creatine because of it's reliability to increase muscular power output. Immune to disease and stronger? Soon enough you'll be able to fight Superman. Buy it on amazon.
Even when Batman is sleeping he doesn't waste time. Galantamine is a nootropic/supplement known for increasing memory and inducing lucid dreaming. When an individual engages in lucid dreaming he is given the ability to control the dream world; anything can happen in a dream therefore the possibilities are endless. This has a wide array of applications, from solving a problem to an intimate meeting with Catwoman you can do it all. With a reputation for rarely having side effects the only question that remains is why aren't you taking it? Like all of the others it comes in pill form too.

Did you like the article? Any supplements that I missed? Comment below!

Christian Grey is like Batman!

Due to the explosion of orgasmic girl hype over the new trailer for 50 Shades of Grey I took an interest into the main character Christian Grey and why women drool over this motherfucker. It just so happens I found striking similarities with iconic icon of badassness......Batman.

Who is Christian Grey?

This Nigga.........

Christian Grey is the main character in the soon to be chick-erotica-flick-book adaptation movie Fifty Shades of Grey. You've probably heard of this book before because everyone fucking has! From it's 2011 electronic book debut(who knew electronic books sell when we have *cough* *cough* torrents and google) it has become a freaking pop culture staple, making not only teenage girls but grown women go crazy reading it's pages. It's pages being littered with scenes of sexual alpha male sexy sex scenes with the highlight being Christian Grey.
Personally I am shocked by the novel's enormous success. First of all I didn't even know people still PAY for books these days. Second of all we live in a time where feminism is on the rise and powerful women are portrayed in a very positive light. Yet this BOOK trilogy has managed to become one of the  best selling book series of all time with it's pages being flooded with the main female character put into such submissive sexual situations and it's a book(not even an audio book).
I grew up learning that to get girls to like me I would have to treat them equally, but then this book shows up to fuck with my principles. It's obvious that I will never understand women.
Anyway, the alpha male in the novel probably wouldn't attract so many women if he didn't share so many characteristics with the infinitely awesome BATMAN:
  • Christian Grey is mysterious. - Batman is like the most mysterious of all the superheroes....he fucking hides in the shadows.
  • Christian Grey is handsome. - Have you seen Bruce Wayne? He looks like a Christian Grey(or Christian Grey looks like Batman).
  • Christian Grey is extremely wealthy. - Batman has what we like to call imaginary wealth(so much money that he doesn't even no what money is).
  • Christian Grey has a troubled childhood. - Batman is based off of a troubled childhood.
There laid out plain and simple. The defining characteristics of Batman and Christian Grey are EXACTLY the same. Actually it wouldn't be very far fetched to say that this is just another one of Bruce Wayne's hobbies....every so often he moves out of Gotham to be Christian Grey, another one of his identities, making 50 Shades of Grey just another Batman chronicle.
A Batman chronicle.....that's how I'll remember this book from now on.
Here's the trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey by the way. If I see some good reviews on it I'll probably go and watch it then read the book.
P.S.You want to know how to enjoy a movie adaptation? DON'T read the book first.

Adapt like Batman

Batman is super adaptive which could probably be considered as one of his super powers. This extreme adaptiveness serves as away to be victorious in every situation or/and escape a doomed fate. Batman can achieve these extraordinary feats by......
Batman....as a pirate.  Let this soak in.
1. Being extremely resourceful. If your stuck somewhere in a hopeless situation don't just give up. Look around you there's probably something that can help you. Unfortunatley it probably won't be easy to utilize but it'll be there. Never give up....something else that Batman is notorious for.
2. Remember what you're all about. There's a comic out there were Batman travels to a few different centuries and he's still kicking ass and foiling super villians. It's a great comic and an awesome example of how Batman's adaptive skills can come together. He knows he's Batman and what Batman does. You have to know who you are in extreme situations and you have to know what the true you would do.
3. Get help. Remember that comic where Batman goes through centuries in time? Well he wouldn't be alive to do that if he didn't have help. In extreme situations, even the Batman(who is known for I quote "working alone") needs help. So look for someone any one who could help you! They just might save your life.

How to Deal with your Rival Like Batman

So what do you do when you meet your equal(more or less)? What do you do when you have to face him(or her)? A rival can make you better and destroy you completely. What if your rival was Superman? Your sort of screwed aren't you? Well not if your Batman because as you know Batman can do the impossible......
As Epic as Epic can get.
1. Know why your rival is your rival. Why is Superman Batman's rival? Well lets see. Superman bask in the light saving people by day while Batman hides in the shadows only operating at night time. Superman is loved by everyone, while Batman is considered a vigilante and is hunted down by the very people he tries so hard to protect. There almost complete opposites even with there costumes....Batman's black and grey vs. Superman's colorful red, white and blue. Your rival probably is your exact opposite but there's one thing you both have in common, power(or some form of it). Superman and Batman are incredible superheroes who could take each other on at anytime, actually Batman would probably need some time to prepare for an attack by Superman but I'm sure Batman would already see it coming. If your rival doesn't challenge to push your limits then they are not a rival they're more of an annoyance. If you are the weaker one and isn't up to stuff than look at your rival as something to prepare for and work toward.
2. Communicate with your rival (but not frequently). In the graphic novel epic The Dark Knight Returns (if you haven't read than stop what you are doing right now and go to your nearest library, iPad, or book store, if those even exist anymore, and buy it read it, read it again and then some more) Batman calls Superman for help (even though he is extremely reluctant). I don't want to give a spoiler, I just want to state a point. When there's something to be done that is beyond you than your rival is the perfect person to call upon. They match you in power and can probably provide much need ideas, manpower, money or whatever you need. Your rival doesn't have to be your enemy, it comes in handy for your rival to also be your friend.
3. Know your rival's weaknesses, because they probably know yours. Being friends is great but with all rivalries there comes a time when you need to face him (or her). That's why you must know your rival's weaknesses. You must continually have them in mind for that epic showdown between you two that's bound to happen. If you are ignorant of said weaknesses you will no doubt be at a huge disadvantage. Remember this is a person who matches you in power, but other than that is the opposite of you in every way. The ONLY way for you to beat your rival is to know their weaknesses. (Spoiler-ish) Like Batman knows Superman's weakness is kryptonite and uses this to great effect in the The Dark Knight Returns. So find your rivals kryptonite so you can ensure your chances of victory!

Dream like Batman

We all must dream because we all must sleep, but did you know you could make your dreams more useful then say a nightmare, daytime fantasy, or another type of fantasy;) Batman does and you can to just read on......
A lucid dream for the Dark Knight.

  1. Learn to Lucid Dream. The first thing you need to do is learn to lucid dream and although it is not common some people, like Batman with training, can do it routinely every night. Wait, what is lucid dreaming? Lucid dreaming is when you control the dream and since you can control the dream you can basically do anything like problem solve real life problems, avoid a nightmare, fight the Joker, or have a very enticing night out with Catwoman. Whatever you want to do you can do it in a Lucid Dream.
  2. Keep a dream journal. This step is very important on the road to lucid dreaming. A dream journal will help you recognize when you are awake and when you are dreaming. By jotting your dreams in your dream journal you will become familiar with the elements that characterize your dreams and you will improve your dream recall. By recognizing that you are dreaming in a dream things become a lot easier to control and the awareness part is about 90% if not more of the lucid dreaming experience.
  3. Follow a sleep schedule. There are many benefits to having a sleep schedule, I have covered most in my previous post Sleep Like Batman, but specifically beneficial to lucid dreaming because your dreams will become predictable. Since you know that you are going to sleep or will at least fall to sleep soon will give you time to prepare for lucid dreaming....you could even recite a mantra "I will Lucid Dream tonight". The fact that your dreams are predictable will make it more likely that you will become aware that you are dreaming in your dream. Hopefully lucid dreaming will become a regular part of your sleep schedule like it is for Batman.
The Boy Wonder must be kept in check!

Rise like Batman

So your down. You're behind on your homework, just broke up with your girlfriend, just got your back broken, you're severely unhealthy, you wake up some where and have no idea who you are.......Batman has been through most of those situations listed above(except the unhealthy part, mind you) and he always knows when to get out of the rut and win. Even if he ends up dying Batman always wins.......
He always wins....always
1. Find your purpose. This is your dawn after the dark (and yes I just typed that), this is the light in that really dark room, your purpose is your hope. Batman knows his purpose. Protect the people of Gotham while sticking to his one rule, that's it that's what keeps him going through the long haul. If he had done it for selfish reasons like vengeance or just the love of violence Batman would've either a.) destroyed Gotham b.) destroyed himself c.) died. It's purpose that drives us, it's purpose that binds us, it's purpose that defines us, with that in mind don't get bogged down if you can't find your absolute purpose it's different for everyone and continually changes. So as of now define your purpose......lose weight....gain muscle....make some friends....get back to health and get back out there.....and it really relies on your rut and who you are as a person.
2. Get organized. Clean your room, get a planner, make some timers these are very simple things that can get you way up there. You'll be surprised at how much faster you'll be and your efficiency will increase ten fold. Just don't over do it. Planning every moment from when you wake up to when go to sleep....unless it's just one of those days.
3. Get some money. Money is important and having at least a little bit of it will help a lot. Besides having the ability to buy things you need to rise out of the hole you're in a boost of confidence is what is also felt when given some cash. Of course Batman doesn't have to worry about this but he would be less without it.
4. Eat well and workout. Get the blood pumping. Running, push-ups, squats, pull-ups, and crunches is the best way to get in shape(or stay in shape), wake your brain up, and add some endorphins(a feel good hormone, stating that working out is basically like crack but without the side effects) to your day. Some good workouts can be found here: P4P Youtube Channel and for beginners P4P Workout
Here's a sample of the soon to come Batman Workout:
Fast Mile Run (Run as fast as you can)
Abs workout
Do as mush as you can for one minute:
Standard Push up
Regular Squat
Regular Pull up
Diamond Push up
Jump Squats
Chin up
5. Learn. Read a book, more Like Batman blog post, watch an educational movie, get smart this will enlighten your mind and get you thinking. I'm not going to get into it because I've already written a whole article about it.
So their it is. Depressed, just had a real bad....year that's how you get out of it. One last thing I also recommend you watch.......................................
So if you didn't see this coming I don't know why you're on my blog.
Also look at: Limitless, any sports movie, and The Shawshank Redemption.

Research like Batman

So you're Batman and you just got a lead on a major investigation and you need to know his/her's next move. You need information and the best way to get information for anything is to research.
Cool place to research...am I right?
1. Know your topic. Be specific. If your going after a mob it would be a waste of time to research each member of the mob being only a one person. It would be smart to zero in on the leader( or leaders) of this mob. You could also be doing a research article on food and zero in on chicken. It's the simple rule of quality over quantity.
2. Use reliable resources. Although many people criticize Wikipedia for not being reliable the truth is that it has administrators who check many of the articles everyday so that the articles STAY up to date. Now people may say that there aren't enough of them to monitor each article everyday but not many people have a real drive to change Wikipedia articles to be inaccurate. Most published work in books are extremely reliable(as it takes a lot of effort to publish a book) just make sure it's up to date(no longer than 5 maybe 10 years old.)
3. Keep a research journal. Write down EVERYTHING that you:
A. Haven't read, heard, or seen before.
B. Important facts, methods, etc.
C. Your thoughts and conclusions made on the topic.
Remember to keep it organized with bullet points, lists, etc. Keep this journal as a reference guide to whatever your planning on doing because without reference research really isn't worth anything.

Stretch like Batman

No one likes being pulled right and everyone likes pulling something much less still. Without stretching before an intense physical activity you're likely to pull something and when you are more likely to pull something you are more likely to break something which is another word for injury. Batman understands this that's why he stretches and you should too.
This happened on a day Batman didn't stretch.
1. Some may say that you can stretch before or after a sports activity but before is ALWAYS better. Keep this in mind that you should stretch before every intense physical activity no matter what anyone says unless you know you have to sprint to get away from some thugs, the cops or a super villain. It happens.

2. Why stretch? Well in the big bold words I explained the most obvious reason but there's other reasons too. Before a sports activity your muscles are tight and your muscles become tighter as you play and a super tight person can't move as fast as a loose person. These tight muscles also become very hard to move because of the contraction, it's like flexing while trying to play basketball.

3. So here are the stretches to perform to avoid injuries, improve performance and make your muscles last longer, A LOT longer:

  • Perform each for 20 seconds(or 20 seconds for each segment).
  • Shoulder stretch: If you haven't done this stretch than you haven't been to a P.E. class ever. The main thing to focus on is having the inner part of the wrist to the elbow and pulling back, many people don't know about this. Do it for each arm.
  • Calf stretch: The calf stretch is done by leaning forward on one leg while keeping the second leg straight and the foot FLAT on the ground. Why capitalize FLAT because it's important. Do it for each leg.
The wall is optional.
  • Forearm stretch: Get your fingers(your hand) and pull back then do it again but rather that pulling back. Pull your hand in. Therefore bending the hand down and in so the wrist is bent pretty well and keep the arm straight in front of you. Do each arm.
  • Triceps stretch: This is another one of those stretches that if you haven't done it you've never been to a P.E. class. You get your arm by the elbow and bend it behind your head so that your hand is touching your back. Do it for each arm.

  • Back stretch: Hold your hand in front of you then put your fingers in between each other like your going to crack your knuckles. Push your arms forward until your upper body is sort of leaning forward you should feel a pulling force in your back. Do once with back.

  • Thigh stretch: The most common stretch in the world. If you haven't come across this one you just haven't been on any sort of sports team(or sport in general). It's simple, get your foot in your hand and been it back and up. Do with each leg.
  • Hamstring stretch: Bend over and touch your toes, that's about it.

  • Neck stretch: Tilt your head to the side until you feel a stretch on one side.. While doing this remember to keep your body straight. Do for both left and right sides.

4. So that's it do that before any intense physical activity, taking down a thug, catching a super villian, etc.

Workout FAST like Batman

So your day is coming to an end but still need to get your Batman workout in, but you only have about fifteen minutes. What do you do?.........What would Batman do?
1. There's is one exercise that is certified to make someone huff and puff more than the wolf in the three little pigs in less than 5 minutes and it's called the burpee. The burpee is a squat thrust combined with a squat jump mixed together with a push-up thus offering a full body workout.
This is the how you do a burpee:

  • Get into a very low squat position leaning on your arms and your toes.

Very low squat position.

  • Get in a beginning push-up position.

Push up up position.

  • Get in to the down position of a push-up.

Down position of a push-up.

  • Get into low squat position again.
Very low squat position again.
  •  Jump into the air (squat jump).
Jumping into the air.
  •  Land in low squat position and repeat.

2. If you are in a really cramped environment and can't go outside the dumbbell clean and press is an excellent replacement for the burpee but you'll probably feel "the pain" more in your upper body rather than your lower body.
3. So that's how Batman would do it. If he was out in the jungle without in workout equipment for three weeks that's how he'd exercise on the fly.
Happy New Years.

Wake up like Batman

Waking up like Batman, really? The beginning to often determines the end, so you might as well start it right, and the end of Batman's days is putting an end to crime, pretty good ending right? So why not start your day like Batman...........
Batman waking up from a dream about Catwoman.

1. Sleep well. It's always important to sleep well to wake up great. Read the Sleep like Batman article for more information.
2. Wake up, get out of bed, do one hundred push-ups. One hundred push-ups? Yes one hundred push-ups, it's not as hard as you think and it'll really get your blood pumping and even make you look better throughout the day.
3. Eat breakfast. This is probably the most important part of waking up like Batman. Breakfast is no doubt the most important meal of the day(believe it because it's true). It sort of balances you through out the day, so random moments of fatigue or hunger will be eliminated, and remember to drink your water. For more information read the Eat like Batman article.
4. Groom yourself. Brush your teeth, then comb your hair, and then dress yourself. You'll feel better about yourself, and feel even more awake. I'll probably write an article about how to do it like batman later.
5. Last but not least, clean your room. Sure Alfred probably cleans Batman's room but if Alfred went on a vacation(as if) for a week I'm sure Batman would clean his room in the mourning. A clean room represents an organized person and you'll feel it too. Then you'll be ready to beat up criminals, climb mountains, party like a rock star, go to school, or go to work, like Batman.

Think like Batman

We all think in a daily lives. To talk, read, write, learn, and solve problems. Batman probably would be the number one person who could set the world record for thinking, and probably the best at it. So how do you think like him? Read on.....
Batman thinking because he does that, often.
1.The first thing you should do is to "think" of your brain as if it's a muscle. Just like we can build our selves to be stronger and faster we can also build our brains to do the same thing, but in a different sort of way.
2. How do you get stronger and faster? You workout right? Well it's the same with your brain. Unfortunately we don't have a bunch different excercises that we just know about(pushups, crunches, squats, etc.) but I've looked and I can give you some.
3. Read ALOUD! Probably one of the most effective excercises for the brain is to read out loud. It'll improve comprehension, vocabulary, writing, speaking, creativity, etc.
4. Meditate. When most people think of meditation people think of "...mmmmmmm...." but it's actually an amazing brain excercise to improve focus, but to meditate one must learn how to meditate. Here's how I learned: howcast-How-To-Meditate
5. Write a personal journal. This is a great way to organize your thoughts. This also helps you keep focus and improve your over all writing skills.
6. Play videogames. All types of videogames are good to play, although they don't all improve the same type of skill(ex. shooters raise focus, hand-eye coordination, and response times as strategy games raise strategical thinking, problem-solving, etc.) Videogames is probably the most underrated brain excercise in the world, although it's one of the best.
7. Brain excercise websites. There is actually alot of good brain excercising websites out there to improve brain function through the various computer games provided to improve memory, awareness, etc. Unfortunately they come at a cost. If you can afford it by all means do use it because it would be one of the wisest investments you'll ever make, but for the people who can't afford sites like lumosity( a very, very good website for training the brain, but also very expensive) there is always freebrainagegames.com/ which is a very good alternative(if some what repetitive) website to choose.
8. So those are the excercises, here is the workout.
  • Brain excercise website
  • Reading aloud for 1 hour
  • Meditate for 15 minutes
Doing this(with at least once a day of writing in your journal) once a day will leave you with a clear and more efficient brain in about a week. It'll take sometime to get to Batman level but wait a little, you'll get there.

Sleep like Batman

Yes he even has a certain way he sleeps.
Batman sleeping.
1. There's a certain way you sleep and most people don't realize this, it's called REM(Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. This way works as a process or sleep cycle every human goes through every session takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. So you'd want to schedule you sleep time in 1 hour and 30 minute periods.

Ex. So let's say Batman just came back at 3a.m. from rescuing the city from Penguin or The Joker or whoever, what he'd do is fix himself up and everything(take a shower maybe) so that would be 30 minutes. He'd set his alarm for 11a.m.(7 hours and 30 minutes, 1 hour and 30 minutes times 5) and wake up and do what Batman(or Bruce Wayne) does.
2. Always get AT LEAST 6 HOURS of sleep anything less is unhealthy. Remember 1 hour and 30 minutes is how much time it takes for one process. Construct  a sleep pattern that includes at least 4 sessions(6 hours) everyday. Goodnight and good luck.

Eat like Batman

To be Batman you'd have to be at some kind of nutrional peak. Nurture yourself with the up most discipline. So how would Batman do it? That's what your about to find out.
Batman beefing up (M is for  meat man)

Let me start it all off with saying that I do this or have tried this and received Batman like results. I won't be putting up anything I haven't tried. So trust me.
This isn't a schedule or eating regimine. You can go all over the internet and find things like that but who has the money to follow something like that, eating a steak or some kind of expensive fish? Sure Batman does but I can't, you probably can't. So I've made up one simple rule that Batman would most likely follow:
  • PROTEIN IS MORE THAN OR EQUAL TO FAT
That's the rule. Batman needs muscle to battle his way through thugs and a lot of protien to think his way out of sticky situations. He can't let fat slow him down or sugar to the brain distract his concentration.
This doesn't mean stop eating or live by a certain diet it just means to follow that rule and in about three days you'll feel different.
Should be eating three meals a day to get the maximum out of your body between specific times as in:
Breakfast - 5a.m and 10a.m. Lunch 11a.m. and 4p.m. and Dinner - 6p.m. and 10p.m.
It's also VERY IMPORTANT  to drink(on average) eight cups of water per day(three cups during breakfast, 1 during lunch, and 2 during dinner).
If you want to get exact drinking methods for your body and climate visit this link: http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm
One last thing to eating like Batman. Batman DOES NOT eat chips or soda. Just don't eat or drink does two things unless your desperate, trust me! This may make one of the biggest differences to your body and eating habits! Stick to the rule stay away from chips, pizza, and soda, you'll do fine.
